Terrin James Durfey
January 30, 1974 – October 28, 2008
Rest in peace, brother.
For those of you that didn't know, Terrin was battling Cancer for 10 years or so. He finally succumbed to it last month. He stayed positive to the end. Those who knew and Terrin feel a terrible loss and we miss him more than can be described. I have lost a brother and my life is better having known him for these years.
In Terrin's last days he still managed to plug away on bass tracks and vocal ideas so there is a ton of unheard music that will eventually be released. It's somehwere in the ballpark of 16 songs! I'll post new things to listen to and relay the progress that is being made on the record.
Please email us through the website if you have any photos, live recordings or video of Terrin or the band. We are trying to piece things together and this would be helpful.
Also, Terrin leaved behind a 6 year-old son, Dakota, and his wonderful wife Adrienne. They will need some help getting on their feet so a great place to help out is through Terrin's fundraiser website. Please visit and donate to their cause if you can spare it.

Holy smokes! We haven't written in a while. Sorry.
Right now Terrin and I are out on tour with Pinback as part of their live band. So far, so good. 2 shows down and 47 to go...
The Jade Shader full length record is still half-done but we promise it will be finished. And we are excited about how it's shaping up.
Thanks for your patience, fellow humans,

Heloo. We just got back from a string of shows with Rob Crow. Super fun stuff. Thanks for everyone for coming out. We had an amazing time. Big thanks also to the Mezzanine in SF for being such a great place to play.
Next week we are going in for round two of our new CD recording. 4 down, 10 or 12 more to go. It's been exciting working on all the new ideas and we hope to keep introducing them into our live set.
Speaking of live sets... we an all ages show at the Che Cafe next month with Facing New York. Check our shows page for more info. Take care.

Greetings! Still working on the next batch of songs. Sounding good if we don't say so ourselves. Maybe we'll reveal a track soon for previewing. Next sessions is in November so things are moving along.
We won the SDMA award for "Best Local Recording" this past month. Thanks for that. Not totally sure what that category is all about, but thanks anyway!
Our new 7" is done and should be available soon on Springman Records. We'll list the distro and mail order info here when we get it! Nice!

Quick note: Hello! We have made some good progress with the new CD. 4 songs completed and 19 more to go. We have amassed a huge amount of material so we can actually pick a good 12 or so for the record. We are excited about the way it's coming together. We are doing the drums over at Zach's place and then everything else here in the old Belly of the Whale. Oh, speaking of the Belly... our last CD, Curse of the Tuatara just was nominated for Best Local Recording in the 2006 San Diego Music Awards. I know it's a little silly but it's nice to be acknowledged. Thanks for that!
See y'alls on Halloween.

My o my... that was an awesome tour. Big thanks to Rob and Zach for having us along on the Pinback tour. So fun! We posted some new photos from the show in Los Angeles at the Avalon. Thanks to Chris Morrow for the fine photography.
Now that we are home we are gonna playa quick show here in San Diego on July 7th and then try to dig into recording the next record. We have about 20 or so new songs to flesh out and track. Most likely we'll do it in a few different scattered sessions so who knows when it will be 100% done. Only the shadow knows...
Via con dios.

Hi Hi. Some things to report. First of all thanks to Facing New York for such a fun time on our California tour dates this past month. We had a blast and really enjoyed seeing them rock. Also, a shout out to the Rum Diary and Maritime Academy as well.
Secondly, we are doing some more out-of-town show in March and April and May... We are doing a string of shows with Kansas City's The Life and Times. These guys kill it so try to make it out for one of the shows if you can. Then on April 20th we'll begin our Western US and Canadian tour with Pinback.
We'll post specifics soon... Check our tour dates section for the most recent stuff.
And one more thing, we finished recording our new song for the new split 7". It came out great and we are excited for the release. The single will have 4 bands on it: The Jade Shader, Years Around the Sun, The Rum Diary, and Facing New York. Pretty sweet.
Thanks!

Wow! What a great couple shows we had. Huge thanks to Jimmy Eat World for having us on the LA shows. We did the sold show on Friday at the Glass House and then played the next up at Caltech in Pasadena to a massive crowd. We couldn't have asked for a better response. Thanks to all for their support and enthusiasm.
We have a busy couple months ahead. We are doing a short tour in February with Facing New York. The stops will include San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Ana and possibly Santa Cruz if we can swing it. It's good to get out of town once in a while.
Make sure to sign up on our mailing list in case you want to be informed of any of our upcoming stuff. Thanks for checking in!

Well the CD finally came out yesterday. Ask for it in the local stores. Drop us a line if you have trouble finding it and we'll do our best to make it available. At this point we are not setting up an online store but things can always be purchased directly from Sonic Boom.
Here's the link: Sonic Boom Recordings
There are a string of shows starting with next week's in-store at Lou's Records in Encinitas on Friday October 28th. Then we are off to Long Beach, San Diego and Hollywood for 4 shows in 3 days. Check the tour dates here for more information.
We played an in-store last weekend at M-Theory and had a great turn out. Thanks to everyone for coming out and checking the show.
Lastly, we are recording a new song for Loud and Clear's upcoming compilation. Other artists include Ilya, Tristeza, Goodbye Blue Monday and many other fine San Diego bands.

A couple things to report. First of all Patricia has left the band. We are really sad to see her go. She has had the honor of being accepted into a really great graduate program for film/animation and couldn't pass up the opportunity. We wish her the best success.
Our friend Gabe Feenberg is taking Patricia's place by playing the extra Rhodes and guitar parts. We had our first show with Gabe with Pinback in Pomona a couple weeks ago.
The CDs are done will be available on the 18th of October. So far we have managed to get a good amount of airplay on 91X and FM 94.9. Thanks to Anya, Tim and Al Guerra for their support.
There are a few more shows coming up in October and hopefully we'll hit the road a bit in November as well. Check back soon for updated tour dates.

This will cover the United States, Europe and Canada. They have some other releases by Death Cab for Cutie, United States of Electronica and IQU among others. Jason from Sonic Boom also does the 3 Sonic Boom record stores in the Seattle area. Check them out if you get a chance.
